The Barbee Lakes Chain is seven interconnected, natural lakes that span across northern Indiana. These lakes alone stretch across 855 acres and have about 2,300 residences spread around the lakes' shores.
One of the lakes in the Barbee Lakes Chain is Tippecanoe Lake. This lake is the deepest natural lake in Indiana with a maximum depth of 123 feet. This lake is a major attraction to boat lovers and fisherman because of its great depths.
Other smaller lakes in the chain, like Sawmill Lake, which has a max depth of 19 feet, are perfect for other sports like wind surfing, canoeing, and even ice fishing in the winter.
Indiana is home to many popular sporting events, fairs, and festivals. Indiana is also home to several professional sporting teams including the NFL&pos;s Indianapolis Colts and the NBA&apo;s Indiana Pacers.
One of the largest and most well-known events in the state is the Indianapolis 500. This event is an automobile race held annually at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Memorial Day weekend. The race is part of the Verizon IndyCar Series, the top level of American Championship Car racing. The name of the race is often shortened to the Indy 500.

The Indiana State Fair is the largest of these types of events and is laid out over 250 acres.
